The camera shows the wrong way, the screen goes dark, or you need to lock it or get out. Find the picture that matches the iPad in front of you.
First time · Moving over from Simple Booth
An iPad locked in Simple Booth (or any booth app) has to be unlocked first: press the top button three times, type that app’s passcode, tap End. Then open the setup link from the owner in Safari. It puts a Booth icon on the home screen, and you lock that the same way (card 4). Simple Booth can stay installed until Booth is working.
1 · Every day
The booth is the Booth icon on the iPad’s home screen. Keep the iPad plugged in. If the screen is black, it is asleep or out of power: plug it in and tap the screen.
2 · The camera shows the wrong way
Guests see the room instead of themselves? On the start screen, press and hold the bottom-left corner for two seconds. The Booth check opens.
3 · Choose the camera
Under Camera, tap Front camera. The booth reopens the camera and remembers it, even after a restart. The line below must say front. On the web page instead of the Booth icon, tap Flip.
4 · Lock it (Guided Access)
Open Booth, press the top button three times fast, tap Start. Guests can no longer leave the booth.
5 · Unlock it
Press the top button three times, type the Guided Access passcode, tap End (top left). The passcode is not written here on purpose.
6 · After a power cut or restart
The iPad comes back unlocked and on its lock screen. Unlock it, open Booth, and lock it again (step 4). The booth reopens on the camera you chose. Photos taken while it was offline send by themselves.
7 · Keep it awake
Settings → Display & Brightness → Auto-Lock → Never. Low Power Mode off. Brightness about three quarters. Camera allowed for Booth. The Booth check’s Screen stays on line says what the iPad did when the booth asked it to stay awake.
8 · Guided Access is set up once
Settings → Accessibility → Guided Access → on, and a passcode under Passcode Settings.
